Costs for implementing PSO

The costs for the implementation depend on various factors, some of them being the level of knowledge and the abilities of staff as well as the existing equipment of the company.

It would be advisable to purchase the PSO manual which can be purchased for Euro 100.00 (+ 7% VAT plus postage and packaging) for member companies and Euro 200.00 (+ 7% VAT plus postage and packaging) for non-member companies.

A suitable measuring device for a spectral measurement of printing results can be purchased at around Euro 3,500.00, including the software.

Graphic Technology Research Association“s control devices can be purchased from Euro 40.00 up to Euro 600.00.

Besides the cost for all necessary hardware, the need to train the staff is another important cost factor; at this point it does not matter whether staff gained the necessary know-how through self-teaching or whether it has attended relevant workshops.

Advisory days on site will be charged at the valid daily rate, those rates differ according to membership to German Printing and Media Industries Federation (bvdm) and the Graphic Technology Research Association and non-members.

The level of investment ultimately depends on the existing level of knowledge.
The switching over from processes that so far did not comply to the standards can occur further costs, for example, when existing printing plates cannot be used anymore, but have to be re-tested and measured because the transfer curve has changed due to the standardisation. These costs will also differ depending on each individual company.

Does it pay off?

You can calculate yourself how much money you have lost throughout the last six months alone on hassle, complaints and unnecessary time and material wasting because interfaces have not been defined clearly and therefore colour information has been adulterated beyond the process chain.

You will realise how quickly the costs for implementing PSO will pay off.
One correctly performed printing job will more than amortise the occurring costs for implementation.
